ALEKSI CAVAILLEZ
Comic Book Artist
Aleksi is an illustrator, cartoonist and comic book artist born in Paris in 1981. He studied drawing at the École d'Estienne and the Arts Décoratifs de Paris before finishing his studies in Finland. He began his career as a cartoonist in advertising, working with magazines such as Vanity Fair, Le Monde, Madame Figaro, Revue XXI and many others.
But his greatest source of inspiration comes from his many trips around the world. Always armed with his travel notebook, he writes, photographs and draws what he sees. Via Baltica, on the road to the Baltic countries, was his first book inspired by his travels, published in 2006. This was followed by numerous projects in various fields: music with the group Fauve, children's books with La Trompette de Sophie, and animation.
He also made a name for himself with the comic strip Ravel, un univers musical, co-published in 2019 by Le Seuil and Delcourt, for which he received the ‘Mention spéciale du jury, Prix Livre et Musique Deauville’ in 2020. At the same time, he regularly exhibits at the OFR gallery in Paris.
