ANTOINE ALVES
Drawing Artist
Antoine has always drawn and it is second nature to him. As a teenager, he explored the world of graffiti alone and in a team, between lettering or characters and large collective frescoes, but always in an offbeat style. In 2008, he decided to combine his passion for graffiti with architecture. The bridge between the two worlds seemed obvious to him: the techniques of drawing, perspective and shading come together, the play of proportions, textures and materials complement each other. He joined the Rouen School of Architecture where he structured his drawing and perfected his technique, while developing a hybrid style between realism and architectural utopias. He began his career as an architect in a Parisian firm, before moving to Bordeaux in 2015. He is now a partner in the HOBO architecture firm.
It was during a trip to Granada in Spain in 2014 that he had a revelation. Its small white houses with tiled roofs hanging from the hills would inspire his work "Blue City". He imagined a utopian city with houses clustered together forming a connected whole where each space intertwines and where living together is imposed in a general unity. He produced a first version of "Blue City" for a private commission, then, after several intermediate studies on medium and small formats, he arrived at the final version of the project in 2018, which he would take 6 months to paint in Indian ink and watercolor.
On our site you will find reproductions of his original work Blue City, produced in limited editions of 15 copies in Giclee prints on Fine Art paper.
