MR KERN
Painter / Street Artist
Mister Kern (Ornaldo Kern) is a Franco-Argentine painter, street artist and comic book artist born in Buenos Aires. He grew up in Barcelona, Spain, where he studied at the School of Fine Arts, before moving to France, to Bordeaux, where he currently lives. He began his career in comics before turning to mural painting in the 90s. Today he focuses mainly on creating large oil paintings. His work is recognized worldwide, which has allowed him to be exhibited in New York, Buenos Aires, Paris, Bordeaux, Barcelona, Madrid, etc.
In his works, Mr. Kern superimposes realistic elements, such as well-known people or characters, and wacky, extravagant, offbeat elements… He describes his work as “realistic and fantasized at the same time”. He works particularly on human physiognomy and expressiveness, and paints characters with ultra-realistic features. If at first glance his style may seem modern and unconventional, he is in fact very attached to classical painting, and is inspired in particular by great painters such as Raphael, Velazquez or Joaquín Sorolla. He makes a satirical analysis of society, politics, social networks, junk food…
